Jajpur, Feb 3: President Droupadi Murmu, currently on a six-day visit to Odisha, on Tuesday visited Jajpur and offered prayers at the revered Maa Biraja Temple on the second day of her tour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The President paid obeisance at the shrine of Maa Biraja, the presiding deity of the district, and spent over one-and-a-half hours at the temple complex. She also performed Pinda Daan at Nabhi Gaya, a sacred site located near the Biraja Temple, a ritual that lasted around 45 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After completing the ceremony, the President visited shrines of other deities within the temple complex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The visit generated considerable enthusiasm across the district, with residents lining both sides of the road to welcome the President. Cultural and spiritual programmes were organised along her route. Officials said this was the first visit by a sitting President to Jajpur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the occasion, District Collector Amber Kumar Kar presented the President with a Buddhist statue and a handloom saree as mementoes. Members of the Brahma Kumaris organisation also met her during the visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During this visit, a large number of people were present on both sides of the road to welcome the President, and various cultural and spiritual programs were held on both sides of the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati, panchayat raj minister Rabi Narayan Naik, Minister for Cooperative, Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts Pradeep Bala Samanta, Jajpur MP Dr. Rabindra Narayan Behera, MLAs Pramila Mallick, Amar Nayak, Akash Das Nayak,Biswaranjan Mallick,Himanshu Sekhar Sahoo, Sujata sahoo, of all constituencies of Jajpur district, , DIG Police Charan Singh Meena, Additional Director General of Police Railways and Coast Guard Arun Bothra, Central Revenue Officer Guha Punam Tapas Kumar, District Collector Amber Kumar Kar, SP Yash Pratap Shrimal and other senior officers were present and gave a grand welcome to His Excellency the President on the land of Jajpur.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
