Paradeep\/Odisha, Feb. 21: <\/strong>ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM\/NS India), in association with the State Pollution Control Board (SPCB), promoted plastic-free community spaces across various locations in Odishaas part of its commitment to a pollution-free environment. The programme was designed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of single-use plastics on human health, animals, marine life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The team of Paradeep Pellet Plant, AM\/NS India, in association with the Regional Office of the SPCB, Paradeep, organised an awareness campaign that included mass oath-taking, followed by the distribution of leaflets on Do\u2019s and Don\u2019ts at community spacesand picnic spots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 Permanent signboards carrying messages on the prohibition of single-use plastic were also installed at both gates of Baba Gorakhnath Temple premises, considering the large daily turnout of devotees and the nearby areas that are frequently used for get-togethers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program was graced by Shri Puskar Chandra Behera, Regional Officer, SPCB, Paradeep as the Chief Guest, along with officials of AM\/NS India including Shri C.H. Hariprasad, Plant Head, Paradeep Pellet Plant, SPL, AM\/NS Ports, Shri Suvendu Kumar Dash, Head\u2013Environment, Odisha, Shri Debadatta Das, Manager\u2013Environment, Pellet Plant Complex, Paradeep and members of the Temple Trust.Over 200 people, including AM\/NS employees and devotees, joined the event with great enthusiasm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shri Puskar Chandra Behera highlighted the dangers of single-use plastics, urged people to avoid them, and encouraged the use of biodegradable alternatives in support of the campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shri C.H. Hariprasad and Shri Suvendu Kumar Dash discussed the types of single-use plastics, stressed sustainable resource use, highlighted the balance between nature and society, and encouraged daily practices that support this cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AM\/NS India also launched a weeklong Plastic-Free Campaign at Gadachandi Picnic Spot, Hadagarh, Anandpur, Keonjhar, in collaboration with the Regional Office, SPCB, Keonjhar, and the State Forest Department, Keonjhar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The campaign was inaugurated by Shri Marshal Kisku, Range Officer,Hadagarh Range Office, in the presence of the local sarpanch, members of the Gadachandi Temple Committee, and AM\/NS officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shri Kisku warned about the harmful effects of plastics on the environment and urged the use of biodegradable materials. He noted that at Gadachandi Picnic Spot, near the forest, large amount of plastic waste from picnics damages flora and fauna, pollutes water, and leads to biodiversity loss and ecological imbalance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of this initiative, leaflets, paper plates, and paper glasses were distributed at both locations to discourage the use of plastic and promote use of biodegradable materials for plastic-free community spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 This effort aimed at ensuring environmental cleanliness, maintaining ecological balance, and raising awareness for a sustainable future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
