Bhubaneswar, Feb. 28: Pravat Ranjan Biswal, a former Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA from Cuttack-Choudwar, was on Saturday expelled from the party on the charges of \u2018anti-party\u2019 and \u2018indiscipline.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The expulsion letter was served a few hours after he had reportedly a brawl with party president Naveen Patnaik at the latter\u2019s residence over the selection of Dr Santrupta Mishra as party\u2019s official Rajya Sabha candidate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pravat, while challenging Naveen\u2019s decision of choosing Mishra over senior leaders, said such a move will demoralize the party\u2019s rank and file.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI told Naveen Patnaik to choose someone who was given his or blood and sweat for the party. Instead, he has chosen a person who joined the party recently,\u201d Pravat said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The former lawmaker also questioned the rationale behind opening of party\u2019s bank account outside Odisha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m opposed to the idea of the party opening an official bank account outside the Odisha. This smacks of corruption. I will hold press conference tomorrow and disclose the nefarious activities going on in the party,\u201d said Biswal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
