Guwahati ,Mar 2 : As a meaningful and humanitarian step under the \u201cTB-Free India\u201d campaign, the Morigaon District Administration and the District Health Society, with the support of Tata Semiconductor, Jagiroad as a Nikshay Mitra, distributed nutritious food packages to 700 tuberculosis (TB) patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The programme was held at the Jagiroad Inspection Bungalow, where all 700 patients were invited together. The District Commissioner, Morigaon and other distinguished officials formally handed over the food packages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through the Nikshay Mitra initiative, TB patients are provided nutritional support, which helps boost their immunity and improves the success of their treatment. Organizations like Tata Semiconductor, by participating in such social responsibility initiatives, are making positive contributions to the local community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Such initiatives have further strengthened the goal of building a TB-Free India. The step taken by the Morigaon District Administration has been widely appreciated, and people expressed the view that such cooperation should continue in the coming days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It may be mentioned that while addressing a meeting held at the Jagiroad Inspection Bungalow on the occasion, District Commissioner Anamika Tewari stated that the risk of contracting the disease increases when immunity is low. Therefore, both men and women should give equal importance to proper food and nutrition. She mentioned that TB is not a major disease and pointed out that women often skip nutritious food themselves and instead give it to their husbands or children. As a result, the risk of contracting the disease is seen to be higher among women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She further said that when people neglect or discriminate against someone because they are a TB patient, the person becomes mentally distressed. TB patients should be treated with love and compassion. She also mentioned that even simple items available at home can serve as nutritious food and that it does not require a large amount of money. If someone feels physically weak due to lack of proper nutrition, she urged them to visit government hospitals to obtain vitamins.
