NEW DELHI, MAY 4 : Latest trends showed the BJP securing a dominant lead in West Bengal and Assam, while actor Vijay\u2019s TVK took a surprise lead over the DMK and AIADMK in Tamil Nadu, as counting of votes progressed on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The figures are based on trends from EC and TV channels, with the poll body yet to declare any official numbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In West Bengal, television trends pointed to a tight contest, with the BJP holding an edge over the ruling TMC and crossing the majority mark, leading in over 160 seats against the TMC\u2019s 110-plus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Tamil Nadu, Vijay\u2019s TVK was leading in nearly 100 seats in a three-way contest, followed by the AIADMK with over 75 seats, while the ruling DMK trailed at around 50.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Vijay was ahead in both Perambur and Tiruchy East constituencies, while Chief Minister MK Stalin was trailing in Kolathur along with several DMK ministers. AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami was leading in Edappadi, while BJP state chief Nainar Nagenthran was trailing in Sattur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Assam, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) was leading in over 90 of the state\u2019s 126 seats, with the Congress-led alliance ahead in just over 20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and state Congress president Gaurav Gogoi were leading in Jalukbari and Jorhat, respectively, while Assam Jatiya Parishad president Lurinjyoti Gogoi was ahead in Khowang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Former Congress leaders Pradyut Bordoloi and Bhupen Borah, who joined the BJP ahead of the polls, were leading in Dispur and Bihpuria, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Kerala, the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) was ahead of the halfway mark with leads in over 75 seats, while the incumbent Left Democratic Front (LDF) was at around 45. The BJP-led NDA was leading in four seats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
