Jajpur, Sep26 : \u00a0\u00a0Fresh breach in the right embankment of the Kani river, a distributary of the Baitarani, has worsened the flood situation in Jajpur district, with 67,144 people in 36 villages and wards across Dasarathpur and Binjharpur blocks affected as of Saturday morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The breach at Dhovabilpatana village and another vulnerable stretch near Tarapada gram panchayat in Dasarathpur has inundated low-lying areas and disrupted road connectivity, agriculture and access to essential services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nineteen people have been reported stranded, though no human casualty has been recorded so far, while one ODRAF team has been deployed for rescue operations. The flood has affected 12,754 livestock, prompting the deployment of a veterinary team and two animal health camps. Two medical assistance teams and nine medical camps have also been deployed, with medicines, anti-snake venom, ORS and IV fluids kept ready.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jajpur Collector Amber Kumar Kar reviewed the situation at a preparedness meeting on Friday, directing officials to maintain close surveillance over vulnerable embankments and ensure rescue, relief, safe drinking water, cooked food, medical assistance and restoration of road and power links in affected areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The administration said it was coordinating with State and district emergency operation centres and keeping additional resources ready as the flood situation remained under watch amid continuing rainfall.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
