{"id":156678,"date":"2026-10-06T06:55:33","date_gmt":"2026-10-06T01:25:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/indusvalleytimes.com\/news\/?p=156678"},"modified":"2026-10-06T06:58:59","modified_gmt":"2026-10-06T01:28:59","slug":"csm-tech-deploys-kenyas-national-digital-royalty-management-system","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/indusvalleytimes.com\/news\/csm-tech-deploys-kenyas-national-digital-royalty-management-system\/","title":{"rendered":"CSM Tech deploys Kenya\u2019s national digital royalty management system"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">New platform digitises royalty declaration, assessment and payment, strengthening transparency and revenue governance<\/mark><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>BY AKSHAYA KUMAR SAHOO<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Bhubaneswar, Oct. 5:<\/strong> Odisha-born GovTech company CSM Technologies Ltd has developed and deployed Kenya\u2019s nationwide Royalty Management System (RMS) for the State Department for Mining, marking a significant overseas expansion of India\u2019s digital public infrastructure capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Implemented through CSM Tech Limited, its wholly owned Kenyan subsidiary, the platform went live on September 28 and is now the official digital channel for declaration, assessment, payment and monitoring of mineral royalties across Kenya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The deployment comes as Kenya\u2019s mining sector gains momentum. Its Mining and Quarrying sector grew 14.9 per cent in 2025 after contracting 7.8 per cent in 2024, according to the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics\u2019 2026 Economic Survey. The State Department for Mining reported mineral exports of about $220 million in 2024-25, generating KSh 991.3 million in royalties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The RMS supports implementation of Kenya\u2019s Mining Act, Cap 306, under which mineral right holders must pay royalties on minerals produced and sold. Under the revenue-sharing framework, royalty proceeds are distributed among the National Government (70 per cent), County Governments (20 per cent) and host communities (10 per cent).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The platform enables mineral right holders and licensed dealers to register digitally, file royalty declarations, receive automated assessments, generate invoices and make digital payments. It also provides real-time compliance tracking, authenticated transaction records and monitoring of penalties and outstanding liabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For government agencies, the system provides real-time visibility into royalty accruals, collections and compliance. Integrated licence records and secure audit trails are designed to reduce manual intervention and improve transparency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CSM is supporting onboarding and technical assistance for large enterprises, mid-sized operators and artisanal and small-scale miners through Madini House in Nairobi and County Mining Offices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMineral royalties are more than a revenue stream. They are a mechanism through which a nation&#8217;s natural wealth is converted into public value,\u201d said <strong>Priyadarshi Pany, Managing Director &amp; CEO, CSM Technologies Ltd<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company said the project builds on its Indian mining technology experience, including RajMines in Rajasthan, which has facilitated more than 20.5 million digital transit permits, and the Integrated Mines and Minerals Management System (i3MS) in Odisha and Khanij Online in Chhattisgarh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-purple-color\">Subhendu Kumar Mohapatra, Director (MEA), Sales, CSM Technologies Ltd, said: \u201cKenya&#8217;s RMS is a strong example of how digital innovation can simplify regulatory compliance while improving transparency and accountability.
