{"id":34101,"date":"2019-12-02T11:55:19","date_gmt":"2019-12-02T06:25:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/indusvalleytimes.com\/news\/?p=34101"},"modified":"2019-12-02T12:03:19","modified_gmt":"2019-12-02T06:33:19","slug":"tribals-to-welcome-winter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/indusvalleytimes.com\/news\/tribals-to-welcome-winter\/","title":{"rendered":"TRIBALS TO WELCOME WINTER"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"caps\">&nbsp;BY AKSHYA ROUT<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>JAJPUR, DEC 2:hundreds of&nbsp;\nSanthal&nbsp; tribals of Sukinda block\nin Jajpur district on Sunday&nbsp; to welcome\nwinter season&nbsp; by organizing dance.\nHundreds of tribals including females also danced to the tune of Changu a\ntribal drum in the tribal dominated villages of the district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many&nbsp; tribals\nsacrificed cocks and forced cattle to trample eggs of hens with a believe&nbsp; to live better in the coming winter season .\nMany tribals also poured Handia a local tribal brew over the head of the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>tribal deities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tribals celebrate all the seasons by organizing festivals. \u201c\nThe winter festival is an important festival for tribals as they pray before\nthe deity for their good health in the winter. Large numbers of tribals never\nuse any warm clothes in the winter for which they need fire , Handia a country\nliquor&nbsp; and&nbsp; coals to keep them warm in the winter. In\nthis festival many tribals drank Handia, said&nbsp;\nRamu Hansada<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>of Kaliapani village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was a beautiful day in the tribal villages for a\nbeautiful festival to welcome the winter season.&nbsp; Other tribal members from around the\ndistrict&nbsp; were also on hand to celebrate\nthis festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Santhals&nbsp; played an\nimportant cultural and&nbsp; historical roles\nin the state.
