Police says it will examine CCTV footage to take action<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n By Sukant Mohanty<\/p>\n\n\n\n BHUBANESWAR, DEC. 29: Activists of the Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD), the youth wing of the ruling-BJD, on Thursday had taken out a bike rally in the Capital city as part of the party\u2019s 23rd foundation day celebrations. However, the party activists did not wear helmets during the rally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This violation of Motor Vehicle by the BJD activists has invited severe criticisms from all quarters. Besides, the Bhubaneswar Commissionerate police has decided to take action against the violators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe’re already looking at the CCTV footage on violation of helmet rule during a rally in Bhubaneswar and will launch some prosecutions. Also, this being a problem in all political rallies in India, we’ve to devise ways for dealing with it in future,\u201d Commissionerate police, Bhubaneswar, tweeted on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n On Thursday, hundreds of activists of BJD\u2019s youth wing had taken out the motorcycle rally from Master Canteen to party office where they welcomed their party president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As most of the activists were seen riding motorcycles without wearing helmets, one twitter user wrote, \u201cNo helmet is required if you have a ruling party flag on your bike, even if the traffic police will not stop you\u2026 I saw it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Another Twitter user also said that he also saw the same near OUAT Square, Bhubaneswar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Another user demanded that the activists should be punished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThey should be punished anyhow. Why such difference between a common citizen and netas?\u201d asked the user.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Stating that Ollywood actor Babushaan was penalised for riding bike without helmet, another twitter user wrote, \u201cIf @babushaansai was penalized for no helmet, on basis of a social media post, these guys are also culpable.
