Bhubaneswar, Dec.17: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, reaffirmed its commitment to safe mining operations by organising the latest edition of Annual Mines Safety Fortnight (AMSF) from 2nd to 15th December at its Jamkhani Coal Mine in Odisha. Organised in collaboration with the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), the two-week programme saw enthusiastic participation from more than 600 employees, business partners, and workmen.

The programme focused on the theme, “Aapka Pariwar Aapka Intezar Kar Raha Hai”, emphasizing the critical importance of adopting safe practices at work to ensure the well-being of every individual. Aligned with this theme, a series of structured, activities were undertaken, including safety inspections, safety quizzes, first-aid demonstrations, mock drills, awareness sessions, Nukkad Natak (street play), and safety talks, engaging all stakeholders in meaningful dialogue on workplace safety.

A key highlight was the comprehensive safety inspection conducted by an external AMSF team comprising 10 subject experts, including an ISO (Internal Safety Organisation) observer and senior officials from Mahanadi Coalfields Limited, a subsidiary of Coal India Limited. The evaluation reinforced Vedanta Aluminium’s steadfast commitment to upholding the highest safety standards across its mining operations.
