U.S. Consul General Visits CSIR-IMMT to Strengthen Indo-US Collaboration in Critical Minerals

Bhubaneswar/Odisha, Sep 9 : A delegation from theUnited States Consulate General in Hyderabad, visited CSIR–Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT), Bhubaneswar and held discussions with Dr. Ramanuj Narayan, Director, CSIR-IMMT, and senior scientists on strengthening Indo-U.S. cooperation in the field of critical minerals and advanced processing technologies.

The delegation visited research facilities at CSIR-IMMT, including the Mineral Processing Pilot Plant, PGM PilotPlant and Seabed Minerals PilotPlant. During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the institute’s ongoing advancements in critical minerals technology development. Dr. Kali Sanjay, Head, Business Development and CSIR-IMMT Centre of Excellence under NCMM, highlighted the institute’s collaborations with industries and institutionsand provided an overview of the initiatives being pursued under the Centre of Excellence on Critical Minerals at CSIR-IMMT.

Consul GeneralLaura Williams appreciated the opportunity toexplore potential areas of R&D collaboration and institutional linkage between CSIR-IMMT and U.S. research entitiesin light of shared bilateral priorities under the TRUST and Pax Silica initiatives to build resilient and trusted supply chains in critical minerals and rare earths.

The visit concluded with a tree plantation on the CSIR-IMMT campus, symbolizing the shared commitment to continued scientific cooperation.
