Amit Shah lays foundation stone of NFSU Bhubaneswar campus, inaugurates transit facility

Bhubaneswar, March 6: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on March 6 laid the foundation stone of the Bhubaneswar campus of the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) and virtually inaugurated its transit campus, marking a major step toward strengthening forensic education and investigative infrastructure in Odisha.
Shah performed the Bhoomi Pujan for the upcoming campus in Bhubaneswar and also laid the foundation stone of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) facility that will be co-located with the NFSU campus.
Addressing the gathering, Shah said the establishment of NFSU in Odisha would open new employment opportunities for students and significantly enhance the country’s law enforcement capabilities. “Students trained in forensic science will further strengthen law and order across the country,” he said.
He added that the Centre aims to establish mobile forensic laboratories in every district to improve the scientific investigation of crimes. According to him, the expansion of forensic infrastructure will help ensure faster and more accurate delivery of justice.
The event was attended by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Ministers Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, along with senior officials and dignitaries from various fields.
Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan and Odisha Chief Secretary Anu Garg were also present on the occasion.
Padma Shri awardee Dr. J. M. Vyas, founder Vice-Chancellor of NFSU, said the university has emerged as the world’s first and only dedicated forensic sciences university. He credited the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Shah for the institution’s rapid growth and global recognition.
Prof. (Dr.) Purvi Pokhariyal, campus director of NFSU, said the Bhubaneswar campus would be developed on 40 acres of land allotted by the Odisha government. She said the institution aims to emerge as a centre of excellence in forensic and allied sciences and play a key role in strengthening investigative capabilities in eastern India.
