BSF Seizes Large Quantity of Explosives and Maoist Material in Malkangiri

Malkangiri,10 July 2023 : The Border Security Force, made a significant breakthrough in their fight against Maoist insurgency as they seized a large quantity of explosives and Maoist materials in the Malkangiri district. Acting on a tip-off, the 142nd Battalion of BSF launched a search operation in the Gompakonda reserve forest near Marigeta village in the Kalimela block.

During the operation, the jawans discovered a cache of Maoist materials buried in the forest. The recovered items included 25 electronic detonators, 4 bundles of safety fuses, and 108 gelatins. Additionally, the security personnel found 20 hand grenades, 10 belts commonly used by Maoists, 9 pairs stars (ranks) and whistles, 2 Maoist books, and an iron box. Preliminary investigations suggest that these items had been concealed by Maoists in the area for several years.

The seizure of these explosives and Maoist materials is a significant blow to the Maoist insurgency in the region. It showcases the BSF’s commitment and effectiveness in combating the threat posed by the Maoists.
