Bhubaneswar, Dec. 13: Amaresh Naresh Samanta, a young engineer of Paradip who has earned many accolades for various circles for tireless efforts for protection and promotion of environment, on December 13 embarked upon a bicycle journey from Bhubaneswar to Digha in West Bengal.

Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal flagged off Samanta’s bicycle journey at the gate of the Governor’s House.

Amaresh said his bicycle journey aimed at creating awareness on preserving our rich biodiversity for the existence of civilization.

“Maintaining biodiversity is vital for existence for the green planet. Its mindless destruction will pull us towards extinction of civilization,” said the environmentalist.

Exhorting Amaresh’s noble initiative, Governor Ganeshi Lal said such effort will inspire and encourage youngsters to work towards protection of the environment.

In his 75th ‘Man Ki Baat programme,’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi had praised Amaresh for planting lakhs of trees in the coastal district of Jagatsinghpur for making the local environment greener.
