TPSODL celebrates International Youth Day

Bermampur (Odisha), Aug. 12: Berhampur: With technology and the world of work changing rapidly, young people must continuously upgrade their skills, embrace innovation and remain adaptable to emerging opportunities, speakers said at an International Youth Day programme held at Khetramohan Science College, Narendrapur.
The interactive programme brought together students from various education institutions and representatives of TPSODL (TP Southern Odisha Distribution limited) for a discussion on the changing professional landscape and the growing opportunities available to young people in Odisha.
Students were encouraged to look beyond conventional career choices and connect their interests and passion with emerging areas of work. The interaction focused on the importance of Artificial Intelligence, digital technology, communication, creativity, critical thinking, entrepreneurship and continuous learning.
The discussion assumed particular relevance in Odisha, where skill development and building a future-ready workforce have emerged as important priorities. The State’s Skill Development and Technical Education Department has articulated the vision of making “Skilled-in-Odisha” a globally recognised identity, while recent State Economic Survey findings point to improving digital skills and growing emphasis on AI capabilities.
Students actively participated in the session, sharing their aspirations and seeking perspectives on careers, technology and the changing demands of the workplace. They were also encouraged to use digital resources responsibly and develop skills that can enhance their employability and entrepreneurial potential.
The programme also highlighted that today’s youth are not merely the leaders of tomorrow but active contributors to society today. Their ideas, skills and willingness to learn can play an important role in shaping Odisha’s future.
The observance concluded with a message encouraging students to keep learning, embrace change, build relevant skills and turn emerging opportunities into meaningful contributions.
