Malkangiri ,19th March,2024:-In a heart-wrenching incident, a minor girl lost her life under suspicious circumstances at Ganesh Hostel in MV-07 village of Malkangiri District. The deceased, a sixth-class student and the daughter of Biswajit Mandal from MV-130, was found hanging in the hostel’s bathroom, sending shockwaves throughout the community.

As questions swirl regarding the nature of the girl’s death, her family members are raising concerns about whether it was a murder or suicide  . The hostel warden reported that the girl had entered the bathroom and remained unresponsive for an extended period. After breaking down the door, they discovered her  hanging.

The situation escalated further when allegations surfaced against the teachers and authorities of Ganesh Hostel, suggesting misconduct and inappropriate behavior towards the minor girls, possibly of a harrassment nature. These accusations have cast a dark shadow over the hostel’s reputation and raised serious doubts about the safety and security of its residents.

This tragic incident has also highlighted broader issues within the Malkangiri District, where numerous private hostels operate without adequate oversight from the District Education Authorities and Administration. Concerns are mounting about the lack of action taken by authorities to ensure the well-being and protection of students residing in these facilities.

Amidst grieving families and a community in shock, calls for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the girl’s death and the alleged misconduct at Ganesh Hostel are intensifying. The authorities face mounting pressure to address these concerns promptly and ensure justice for the victim and her family.
