NEW DELHI, JULY 26 : Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi officially assumed charge of the Ministry of Education at Kartavya Bhavan on Sunday. Joshi, who also oversees the Ministries of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and New and Renewable Energy, chaired a review meeting to assess the implementation of key schemes and initiatives under the ministry.

Minister of State for Education Shri Jayant Chaudhary attended the meeting, which was also attended by Higher Education Secretary Dr Vineet Joshi, School Education and Literacy Secretary Shri T. K. Anil Kumar, and other senior ministry officials.

PRALLAD JOSHI REPLACES DHARMENDRA PRADHAN

On Saturday, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi was assigned the charge of the Ministry of Education after President Droupadi Murmu accepted the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan from the Union Council of Ministers with immediate effect.

According to an official release issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan, “The President of India, as advised by the Prime Minister, has accepted the resignation of Shri Dharmendra Pradhan from the Union Council of Ministers, with immediate effect, under clause (2) of Article 75 of the Constitution of India. Further, as advised by the Prime Minister, the President has directed that Shri Pralhad Joshi, Cabinet Minister, be assigned the charge of the Ministry of Education, in addition to his existing portfolio.”

CJP’s DECISION ON PROTEST

Hours after Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) called off its 37-day protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar following the third round of talks with the Centre.

The breakthrough came after a meeting with Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh at the Constitution Club in New Delhi. The CJP, which had declared Pradhan’s resignation a “non-negotiable” demand, said it was ending the agitation in “good faith” after the government accepted its key demand and assured it of action on the remaining issues.
