Balasore, Jan. 7: In a disturbing incident, a Class 9 student reportedly stabbed a classmate at Kamarda Nodal High School in Balasore district on Monday.

The attack occurred during the school’s annual competition, leaving the victim severely injured. The injured student was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition and is undergoing treatment.

According to sources, the altercation stemmed from a disagreement between the two students, which escalated into a violent confrontation. It is suspected that the attack was premeditated, with the accused allegedly using a knife to target the victim.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Kamarda police arrived at the scene and launched an investigation. Teachers and school staff are actively cooperating with the authorities to ensure a thorough inquiry.

The incident has raised serious concerns among parents and local residents about student safety within schools. Discussions are reportedly underway to explore measures to prevent such violent incidents in the future.

This is not an isolated case. Just a month ago, a 14-year-old student from a government school in Kendrapara allegedly stabbed a classmate in the classroom of Telengabasant Nodal Upper Primary School, under Pattamundai Rural police station jurisdiction.
