CPI(M) Pada Yatra Reaches Malkangiri, Demands Tribal Rights and Welfare Measures

Malkangiri ,20th February 2024 :-the CPI(M) Pada Yatra, which commenced from Jantapai in Chittakonda Block of Malkangiri District on the 12th of February, reached its destination in Malkangiri. The yatra, which saw the participation of workers, culminated in a demonstration in front of the Collectorate Malkangiri.
Led by State Secretary Ali Kishore Patnaik and District Secretary Braja Majhi, the procession of workers marched through various blocks and areas, including Kudumulugumanma, Khairput Block, Mudulipada, Mathili Block, and Pandripani, before arriving at the Bhairavi Temple in Malkangiri.
During the demonstration, the participants over 1000 , holding party flags and shouting slogans, presented a demand letter to the Chief Minister, outlining their grievances and demands. These included issues related to tribal rights, such as Jangle land Right of Record (ROR), 200 days of guaranteed work, and a daily labor charge of Rs. 600. Additionally, the letter called for the establishment of district-level employment initiatives and emphasized the protection of tribal lands from being sold to non-tribals.
Furthermore, the demands encompassed welfare measures aimed at improving the livelihoods of marginalized groups, including an increase in allowances for widows and elderly women.The party leaders reiterated their commitment to fighting for the rights of the marginalized and promised to continue their efforts until their demands are met by the authorities.
