Debajita Kanungo honoured as successful young entrepreneur at Utkarsh Odisha Conclave 2025

Kendrapara: In a momentous recognition of entrepreneurial excellence, Debajita Kanungo from Kendrapara district has been honoured as a successful young entrepreneur at the Utkarsh Odisha-Make in Odisha Conclave 2025, a prestigious industrial event held in Bhubaneswar on January 28th and 29th. The event, which took place at Janata Maidan, was inaugurated by the Chief Minister and brought together a multitude of industry leaders from across the country and abroad.
The Sammilani, also known as the Odisha Industrial Expo, served as a platform to encourage and recognize the achievements of Odisha’s entrepreneurs, particularly those in the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector. The state government acknowledged the dedication, hard work, and innovation of 60 young entrepreneurs under the age of 40, who have made significant contributions to the state’s economic growth.
Among those honoured by MSME minister Gokulananda Mallick was Debajita Kanungo, a successful businesswoman from Garadapur block in Kendrapara. Debajita’s achievement stands out as she is the sole entrepreneur from her district to receive this prestigious recognition. She established a thriving ‘Nrusinghanath Ash’ brick factory near her home, where her commitment and innovation led to its success. The factory has not only contributed to local employment but has also played a role in the region’s economic development.
Debajita, the daughter of prominent journalist Dipti Ranjan Kanungo, is widely respected for her entrepreneurial spirit. She continues to inspire others in her community, especially women, showing that with hard work and dedication, even small businesses can flourish. Her achievement at the Sammilani was celebrated by various sectors, and she received heartfelt congratulations from friends, family, and industry leaders alike.
This recognition of Debajita Kanungo is a testament to the growing entrepreneurial spirit within Odisha, particularly in rural districts.
