Directorate of Sericulture Launches Sericulture MIS to Strengthen Digital Governance and Stakeholder Connectivity

Guwahati/Assam, Aug 26: The Directorate of Sericulture, Government of Assam, yesterday formally launched the Sericulture Management Information System (MIS), marking a significant step towards strengthening digital governance, information management and stakeholder connectivity in Assam’s sericulture sector.
The formal digital launch was carried out by the Hon’ble Minister for Handloom, Textiles & Sericulture etc., Government of Assam, Shri Biswajit Daimary. Director of Sericulture, Lakhimi Dutta along with Kaushar J Hilaly, IAS(retd), Special Secretary, Department of Sports and Youth Welfare; Ankur Bharali, Director of Sports and Youth Welfare; senior ACS officer Kajori Rajkhowa and other officials were also present on the occasion.
The Sericulture MIS has been developed as a unified information platform for Eri, Muga, Mulberry and Tasar, bringing farmers, Farmer Interest Groups (FIGs), district sericulture offices and the State administration onto a common digital platform. The system is aimed at facilitating seamless information flow, efficient monitoring and improved coordination across the sericulture ecosystem.
Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble Minister Shri Biswajit Daimary emphasised the importance of adopting technology and digital platforms to improve transparency, coordination and service delivery in the sericulture sector.
