Malkangiri, June 6, 2023 Odisha: In a heartfelt effort to assist the injured victims of the tragic Balasore Train accident, the District-Level Joint Amala Sangha Protest Camp organized a blood donation drive today in front of the Collectorate. The protest, which has been ongoing since June 1, 2023, aims to secure a salary hike for clerks throughout the state of Odisha.

The Amala Sangha members have come together in solidarity, demanding the implementation of the Odisha State Revised Pay (ORSP) of 2017. Specifically, they are seeking a grade pay of 4200/- for Level 9 with a basic pay set at Rs. 9300/-. Despite their ongoing dharana, the members of the Amala Sangha showed their compassion and empathy by raising funds to aid the victims of the Bahanga railway accident.

During today’s blood donation camp, numerous volunteers from the protest camp and local residents came forward to donate blood, which will be provided to the hospitals treating the injured victims. This selfless act of blood donation showcases the unity and benevolence of the Amala Sangha members, who have not let their demands overshadow their commitment to humanitarian causes.

Speaking about the initiative, the Amala Sangha Convenor Shyam Sundar Nayak stated, “While we continue our protest for our rightful demands, we understand the urgent need to support those affected by the recent tragedies. Our blood donation drive is a testament to our commitment to the welfare of our fellow citizens, and we hope that our small contribution can bring some relief to the injured victims and their families.”

The district administration and local residents have expressed their appreciation for the Amala Sangha’s efforts to assist the Balasore Train accident victims. The donated blood will be promptly sent to hospitals where it will be used to save lives and aid in the recovery of those injured in the tragic incident.

As the dharana enters its sixth day, the Amala Sangha remains steadfast in their pursuit of fair compensation and improved working conditions.
