Malkangiri,31 August 2023:-The Youth Red Cross in Malkangiri organized a significant District Working Committee meeting today, fostering community engagement and volunteerism. The event was chaired by Chairman Lingaraj Mishra, with active participation from youth Red Cross volunteers.

Highlighting the importance of youth involvement, Additional District Magistrate and Vice President of District Youth Red Cross Society, Vedabar Pradhan, graced the occasion as the chief guest. He commended the remarkable role played by youth Red Cross volunteers and emphasized the value of their efforts.

Dr. Prafulla Kumar Nand, Chief District Medical Officer, delivered a compelling speech, encouraging voluntary blood donation as a way to save lives. Dr. Udayanath Khara, President of Malkangiri College Management Committee, and Mr.Kamal Kumar Gaud, the Guest of Honor, joined the event.District Fire Officer Dr. Sagar Kumar Bala, Blood Bank officer ,Ashok Kumar Sadhangi, and ex-chairman also shared insights into the activities of the Red Cross.

The program, hosted and conducted by Dr. Ranjan Kumar Swain ,District Redcross Convener and Secretary featured a wreath-laying ceremony to honor Sir Jean-Henri Dunant, followed by a lamp lighting ceremony. The opening song, performed by Swachasebi Priyadarshini Pradhan, added a melodious touch to the event.

Representatives from 28 Higher Secondary Education Councils and 10 Graduate Colleges attended the program, discussing their individual approaches to youth Red Cross initiatives. A unanimous decision was made to organize a district-level education and training camp on November 27-29 at SP Higher Secondary School. Furthermore, plans were set to observe the acquisition ceremony across all colleges by November 5.

The event also pledged to execute voluntary blood donation drives, tree planting efforts, de-addiction campaigns, AIDS awareness programs, and Red Ribbon Club activities. Over 100 participants, including faculty members, volunteers, and students, marked their presence, creating a spirited atmosphere.

Indian Red Cross Society Rajyashakha sponsored the program, with Rashmiranjan Jena delivering the concluding vote of thanks. A friendly reception and mid-day meal concluded the event on a positive note, fostering camaraderie among attendees. This meeting showcased the dedication of youth volunteers and their commitment to community welfare.
