Bhubaneswar, Dec.1: The Centre for Youth and Social Development (CYSD) has made a partnership with the US-based Dr. Dash Foundation in order to transform and digitize its library to a model State Resource Centre.

Laying the foundation stone of the State Resource Centre, Dr. S. Dash, the Chairman and Founder of Dr. Dash Foundation said, the Centre would serve as a Knowledge Resource Hub in Odisha and scale up the Library movement for the benefit of students, researchers and the community people at large.

“At a time when digital transformation of knowledge and resources has become the need of the hour to enhance access and improve preservation of library materials, our partnership holds a lot of importance,” said Shri Jagadananda, the Co-founder of CYSD.

The partnership aimed at transforming the Library and Information Centre to a State Resource Centre with improved facilities along with provision of modern technology. The centre would function as an effective citizen information-cum-documentation hub to spread the citizen assistance movement across the state. Initially, the Foundation has extended a support of 13.78 lakhthrough CAF America. The upgradation will include renovation of facilities, software up-gradation, development of an online catalogue, E-Library, digitization of CYSD publications and staff training on smart-library.

It may be mentioned here that Dr. Dash Foundation is an US-based charitable organization founded by Dr. SitaKantha Dash, who was born (15 Nov 1942) in Cuttack district of Odisha and came to USA in 1969 and earned a doctorate in Nutrition & Biochemistry in 1973. He currently lives in Minneapolis and embodies the “American dream” as an innovator, entrepreneur, community leader and philanthropist. Further, Dr. Dash is the Chairman and Founder, UAS Laboratories and President & Founder, DD Innovations, Inc. Besides, he holds key positions in several Foundations and Companies of repute.

As a Philanthropist, Dr. Dash has been focusing on education, health and social welfare through philanthropy and corporate social responsibility initiativesin Odisha for the last 30 years.

Besides CYSD, Dr. Dash has evinced keen interest to support the school library of Korkunda Residential School in Malkanagiri and Library and reading materials for Women Prisoners in selected jails of Odisha.
