Bhubaneswar, Dec. 3: A three-member team of Odisha Union of Journalists comprising president Prasanna Mohanty, Akshaya Kumar Sahoo and Jitendra Patnaik on Tuesday met Governor Professor Ganeshi Lal and apprised him about various problems of the scribes.
The team also urged the Governor for his intervention to facilitate enactment of Journalists’ Protection Act and rolling out of certain welfare measures for the scribes.
The Governor advised the OUJ delegation to study Journalists’ Protection Act enacted by other state governments and welfare measures initiated for the scribes by certain provinces like Haryana, and submit a synopsis to him for further action.
OUJ president Prasanna Mohanty thanked the Governor for good gesture.
“It is quite heartening that the Governor paid a patient listening to our grievances and assured to address them. We will soon furnish him the synopsis as desired by him,” said Mr Mohanty.
