Pakistan,Aug 29 : Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan was arrested on Tuesday, hours after the Islamabad High Court released him on bail in the Toshakhana case.
He will stay in judicial custody and will be produced in court on Wednesday, August 30.
He is arrested in the cipher case, under the Official Secrets Act. Imran Khan is accused of misusing a confidential diplomatic cable (cipher) for political purposes when he was in power in Pakistan.
Earlier today, the Islamabad High Court suspended Imran Khan’s three-year sentence in the Toshakhana corruption case and ordered his release from jail.
However, Imran Khan remains barred from politics for five years, preventing him from contesting an upcoming election.
A trial court in Islamabad convicted and sentenced the 70-year-old Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman to three years in prison on August 5.
