International Conference on Purvodaya Perspectives 2nd Edition: Exploring India’s Maritime Heritage

Bhubaneswar, Dec 13: The second edition of the International Conference on Purvodaya Perspectives: Reclaiming India’s Maritime Heritage – Perspectives, Prospects, and Prognosis, is scheduled to take place on December 14–15, 2024, at Taj Vivanta, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Organized by The Energy Forum (TEF) in partnership with the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the event promises to bring together prominent voices from across the globe to discuss India’s maritime legacy and its future implications.
The two-day conference will be inaugurated by Shri Sidhartha Pradhan (Retd. Secretary to the Government of India), with welcome addresses from Hon’ble Smt. Pravati Parida, Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha; Shri Suryabanshi Suraj, Minister of Culture, Government of Odisha; and Shri Jaideep Mazumdar, Secretary East, Ministry of External Affairs. Esteemed personalities such as Shri Indra Mani Pandey, Secretary General of BIMSTEC, andMs.Durapada Sapkota, Ministry Counsellor, Embassy of Nepal, New Delhi.will also grace the occasion.
Key sessions include discussions on Indo-Pacific security, economic frameworks, and regional organizations such as BIMSTEC and ASEAN, chaired by leading experts like Dr. Smruti Pattanaik and Vice Admiral Rama Kant Pattanaik (Retd.). Day 2 will focus on port-led development, the blue economy, and future-ready strategies, featuring industry leaders like Shri Rinkesh Roy, Chairman of the CII National Committee on Ports, and Dr. Sameer Patil of the Observer Research Foundation.
A cultural program and networking opportunities will enrich the experience, while a roundtable on heritage and connectivity will provide actionable insights for sustainable maritime growth.The conference is expected to catalyze discussions on maritime heritage and its relevance in India’s strategic and economic future.
