Malkangiri College Celebrates International Yoga Day with Enthusiastic Participation

Malkangiri, 21.06.2024 – International Yoga Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at Malkangiri College, organized by the NSS Unit and Youth Red Cross. The event highlighted yoga’s significance as a gift from ancient traditions.
The celebration commenced with the participation of Prof. Lingaraj Mishra, the college principal, who discussed the importance of yoga in promoting physical and mental well-being among the youth. He emphasized how yoga can help prioritize health and wellness.
Dr. Ranjan Kumar Swain, the District Coordinator and Convenor of Youth Red Cross, urged students to practice yoga regularly. Senior Lecturer Ashok Kumar Shadangi from the Department of Economics, along with National Service Planning Officer Pramiya Kumar Mohanty, Premrekha Bhatra, and NCC Officer Lt. Sushant Majhi, actively participated and encouraged the students.
The event saw the participation of around 120 students and volunteers. Activities included essay, drawing, and speech competitions themed “Yoga for Self and Society.” Winners were awarded certificates by the college chairman.
The day began at 6 AM with students gathering at designated spots for yoga practice. Following the chairman’s speech, prayers were offered, and from 7:01 AM to 7:44 AM, attendees engaged in various yoga exercises, asanas, and pranayama. The event concluded with the distribution of certificates and prizes to the successful participants.
This celebration not only highlighted the importance of yoga but also fostered a sense of community and well-being among the students and staff of Malkangiri College.
