Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s No. 1 digital service provider Reliance Jio has won with huge margin over its nearest rival Airtel in both 5G coverage availability and download speed experience in Odisha. This has been revealed in the latest mobile network experience report, published by Open Signal, leading independent global standard for analysing consumers’ connectivity experiences. As per the data published in this report, Jio leads the 5G availability time in Odisha with an impressive percentage score of 57.6 while Airtel comes a distant 2nd with a score of just 22.
In overall download speed experience in Odisha, Reliance Jio leads with 62 Mbps speed while its nearest competitor clocked 44.7 Mbps, mentioned the report published by Open Signal. In overall network availability comprising both 4G and 5G service segments, Jio leads with 99.3% availability time in Odisha, the report said.
Nationally also, Jio leads in 5G availability, with Jio users spending two third of their time connected to 5G, said the report by Open Signal. Jio won the 5G availability award, with 5G users on its network connecting to 5G 66.7% of time, close to three times greater than those with Airtel, it mentioned. 5G Availability compares the proportion of time 5G users spend with an active 5G connection – the higher the percentage, the more time users on a network spend connected to 5G.
The report further adds that Jio users have the most consistent experience as Jio retains the consistent Quality award, with a score of 66.5%, 3.2 percentage points greater than Airtel. This indicates that Jio users continue to see the greatest proportion of tests that meet the minimum thresholds to support demanding commonly used mobile applications, such as video calling or uploading an image to social media.
Jio also remains the sole winner of all three awards in the coverage category i.e. overall availability, 5G availability and coverage experience. Jio comfortably leads in 5G availability, with 66.7%, which is over 40 percentage points greater than Airtel, the report added. Since the October 2023 report, Jio’s score has improved twice as much as Airtel’s. Jio also leads in availability, the proportion of time users are connected to a cellular connection, with 99.4%. Jio also leads by a fair margin in terms of coverage experience, measuring the extent of mobile networks in the places people live, work and travel with a score of nine points on a 10-point scale, it asserted.
