Malkangiri: 51st Foundation of OUJ celebrated in grand style, 24 persons felicitated
NUJ secretary general announces to hold national-level meet at Malkangiri

Malkangiri, Dec. 18: Malkangiri Union of Journalists (MUJ) on Sunday successfully hosted the 51st Foundation of Odisha Journalists (OUJ). Over 500 delegates from across the state and neighbouring provinces such as Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Telengana and participated in the event.
Presided over by the OUJ president and Press Council of India member Prasanna Mohanty, the event was attended by Odisha law, scheduled caste and scheduled tribe development minister Jagannath Saraka, Chitrakonda MLA Purnachandra Baka, Malkangiri MLA Aditya Madhi, Collector Vishal Singh, Superintendent of Police Nitesh Wadhani, OUJ general secretary Ashok Nanda, Vice Presidents Rajesh Patnaik and Kishan Rout; MUJ president Deba Prasad Dash, general secretary Premendra Parichha and NUJ executive member Akshaya Kumar Sahoo also joined the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister Mr Saraka said he had always stood by the OUJ and committed his support to the organization in the future.
The two MLAs and district collector also pledged their support for the OUJ.
As many as 24 distinguished persons were felicitated at the event for their meritorious contributions to the society.
Speaking on the occasion, OUJ president Mr Prasanna Mohanty said the 51st Foundation Day celebrated at Malkangiri was a grand success. He declared that NUJ would hold a convention here as the place has proved its strength and potential of an ideal venue for such an event.
The president also thanked the MUJ for their superb hospitality and management of the event.
Prior to the celebration of the event, the journalists took out a rally in Malkangiri town and submitted a 5-point charter of demands to chief minister Naveen Patnaik through the collector. The demands, among others included pension provision for journalists, hike in health insurance from Rs 2 lakh to 10 lakh, Journalists Protection Law, revival of journalists accreditation committe and rail travel concession.
Cutural programmes, including Odissi dance and orchestra, were also organised marking the occasion.
