Malkangiri,25 September 2023:-In a significant development along the Malkangiri bordering area of the Chintoor Police in Alluri Sitaramaraju District,Andra Pradesh apprehended Madakam Unga @ Ungal, the Deputy Commander of the 8th Platoon of CPI (Maoist) and Platoon Party Committee Member (PPCM). The arrest took place in the forest area on the outskirts of Lankapalli village, within the jurisdiction of the Chintoor Police Station.

Madakam Unga @ Ungal, aged 30 and hailing from Palodu Village in Kishtaram Police Station Range, Sukuma District, Chhattisgarh State, had been an active member of the Maoist Party since 2007. He rose through the ranks and was promoted to Platoon Party Committee Member (PPCM). Over the years, he was involved in approximately 37 criminal incidents across Chintoor sub-division in Alluri Sitamaraju district, Charla area of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh State.

The arrest occurred during an operation aimed at curbing Maoist activities. Acting on prior intelligence, State Special Police Party and CRPF personnel were conducting operations in the forest area of Lankapalli village to neutralize individuals attempting to plant explosive devices. Madakam Unga @ Ungal was apprehended while attempting to place drug containers in the area. Maoist party leaders, members, and militiamen accompanying him managed to escape. The police recovered two detonators, two grenades, CARDEX wire, iron pieces, and a cooker from his possession.

Alluri Sitaramaraju District SP, Mr. Tuhin Sinha IPS, emphasized that strict action would be taken against anyone collaborating with the banned Maoist party and engaging in anti-social activities. The operation saw the participation of several key law enforcement officers, including Shri K.V. Maheswara Reddy, IPS, Additional Superintendent of Police (Operations), Rampachodavaram, Shri. Dharma Prakash, Commandant, 42 Battalion CRPF, Sri G. Appala Naidu, Inspector, Chintoor Circle.
