Mining department raided hillocks to prevent illegal quarry and mining in Jajpur

Jajpur, July 18 : The officials of the mining department along with the police and other officials on Thursday raided illegal stone quarries and mining at Dankari , Lunibar and Chadehedhara under Dharmasala block in Jajpur district.
Earlier , the BJP MLA from Dharamsala, Himanshu Sahoo alleged that some influential persons have been doing illegal mining and stone- quarrying works in these hillocks for more than two decades.
Acting on the complaint of the MLA we raided these hillocks. The directorate of minor minerals has formed a committee to investigate the illegal mining in these areas. We will submit a report to the authorities soon , said N.N. Singhdeo the Joint Director of Mines Department.
We directed the police and the district administration to take stern action against the persons who are involved in illegal stone quarry works, added the officer.
BJP MLA from Dharamsala, Himanshu Sahoo said ‘ Many BJD leaders are involved in mining scams in the district. They looted crores of rupees in a clear nexus with venal officials . The BJP government will take legal action against them ‘.
