Malkangiri, September 15, 2023 – Member of Parliament Aparachita Sadangi, on the invitation of Adivasi Bikash Parishad, embarked on a one-day visit to Malkangiri to attend a crucial meeting at DNK Parade Ground. The meeting was organized under the leadership of Convenor E Prasad Rao, focusing on the development issues plaguing the region.

Smt. Aparachita Sadangi’s visit was met with a warm welcome from party workers and supporters as she made her way through the towns of Govindpally and Mathili before reaching Malkangiri. The highlight of her visit was a spirited rally on foot from the Malkangiri Bus Stand to DNK Parade Ground, where she addressed the gathering.

During her speech, MP Aparachita Sadangi voiced strong criticism against the 23-year-long rule of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government in Odisha. She pointed out several pressing concerns that have been affecting the region’s development and the well-being of its residents.

Smt.Sadangi noted that a significant portion of the population in Malkangiri comprises laborers and farmers who are forced to seek employment opportunities in states like Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and other states due to the absence of employment facilities and industries in the region. Additionally, the lack of proper irrigation facilities in Mathili, Khairput, and Chitrakonda has hindered farmers from practicing multiple-crop cultivation.

She also raised concerns about the allocation of contracts to non-local individuals, which has led to the neglect of local contractors and residents. Furthermore, Sadangi criticized the delay in opening the BED college, which has remained under construction for six years.

The dismal state of the Human Development Index (HDI) in Malkangiri was another issue brought to light by MP Aparachita Sadangi. She emphasized that the women’s literacy rate in the region is shockingly low, at less than 6%, and maternal and child mortality rates are alarmingly high. Additionally, most government offices in the area suffer from a shortage of staff.

The meeting at DNK Parade Ground was attended by several prominent figures, including Sri.Aditya Madhi, MLA of Malkangiri, Sri Guru Charan Mohanty, Sri.Jeeban Sahu, and Sri.Nishikanta Nayak, among others. The gathering served as a platform to address these pressing issues and discuss strategies for the betterment of Malkangiri and its residents.
