Dulanga (Sundergarh), Oct. 29: As a socially conscious enterprise, leading power producer NTPC has been very sensitive to the needs of the Project Affected Persons (PAPs).

In line with its social objectives, NTPC has always paid greater attention to developing robust rehabilitation strategies focusing on the effective rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) of PAPs and also community development works in and around the projects. NTPC’s efforts are clearly visible and appreciated by one and all for developing R&R colony with all benchmark integrated infrastructure facilities like bank, shopping complex, community center, Aanganwadi, Family Health center, school and playground.

Recently in line with the guidelines/clarification issued by the Government of Odisha “The daughters whose names were included in the survey list of displaced persons and subsequently got married before the actual displacement shall be eligible for R&R benefits as per the provisions under Odisha Resettlement and Rehabilitation Policy, 2006”.

Subsequent to the deposit of compensation amount with District Administration, now some married daughters from the project affected villages have submitted representation on 21.10.2021 to the District Administration for inclusion of their names for R&R benefits. Since this matter pertains to the policy/guidelines framed by the Government of Odisha, the matter has been brought to the notice of District Authorities of Sundargarh.

On Thursday, the representatives of the District Authorities have discussed the matter with the group of ladies and explained the perspective. Revenue authorities of District Sundargarh have further requested that their application be submitted with supporting documents by 30.10.2021 in the office of Tehsildar which will be scrutinized and examined in light of policy guidelines issued by the Government of Odisha, and request all the group of ladies to restrain from protest.

The group of ladies has been sensitized, that the ongoing nationwide coal crisis is a major cause of power shortage, and any disturbance in mining operation will hamper the power generation, which will be a major loss to the nation.

In the light of the above, the appeal has been made to all the group of ladies to restrain from protest and disburse/vacate the Dulanga Project premises at the earliest.
