Odisha woman claims her husband has 20 wives, files complaint

Koraput, Nov. 7: A woman from Jeypore town of Odisha’s Koraput district on Friday registered a complaint at Town police station against her husband alleging that he has as many as 20 wives. Sanjukta Patra from Christian Peta locality informed the police that her husband Prabhat Chetti threw her out of the house after bringing another woman in.
She further said that despite having two kids out of their marriage, her husband has been disloyal to her and has several relationships with other women.
Alleging that Prabhat has signed their house and property in the name of the woman he recently moved in with, a hapless Sanjukta requested the police to intervene into the matter.
On the other hand, Prabhat lodged a counter case against Sanjukta. In his complaint, he accused his wife of bad behavior and harassment.
After registering the complaints, the Town police initiated an inquiry into the matter. They also spoke to both the parties regarding the matter.
Later, they booked Prabhat with charges under Sections 294, 303,354, 506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Court Indian Penal Code (IPC).
