Bhubaneswar, Nov. 19: Odisha’s Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi led a successful investment roadshow in Singapore, presenting the state as a prime destination for global investors. The interactive session on “Business Opportunities in Odisha” attracted significant interest from ASEAN industry leaders, highlighting the state’s natural resources, advanced infrastructure, and skilled workforce.

CM Majhi and industries minister Sampad Chandra Swain engaged in strategic discussions with Singapore’s minister of transport, Chee Hong Tat, focusing on logistics and shipping advancements. The talks explored solutions such as digital freight management and integrated multimodal systems, inspired by Singapore’s global leadership in these areas.

Odisha’s delegation also strengthened ties in skill development during a visit to the Institute of Technical Education and Education Services (ITEES). This collaboration supports the World Skill Centre in Bhubaneswar, positioning Odisha as India’s “Skill Capital” and paving the way for further global partnerships to enhance workforce training.

A roundtable hosted by Enterprise Singapore and FICCI brought together industry leaders from firms like Agrocorp International and Surbana Jurong. Key discussions centered on infrastructure, IT, and manufacturing opportunities in Odisha. One-on-one meetings with major corporations, including Linde and Vena Energy, explored investments in chemicals, petrochemicals, textiles, and metals, signaling strong international interest.

A visit to the Port of Singapore Authority provided insights into modern port management practices, which Odisha aims to adopt to strengthen its maritime infrastructure. These initiatives align with the state’s vision of port-led economic growth and its ambition to become a key logistics hub in India.

The day culminated in a high-profile investor roadshow attended by over 300 delegates, including prominent investors, industry representatives, and members of the Odia diaspora. CM Majhi invited participants to the upcoming ‘Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha Conclave 2025,’ emphasising the state’s readiness to lead India’s growth under the “Purvodaya Yojana.”

Industries minister Swain highlighted Odisha’s rapid transformation through initiatives in skill development and global collaborations, reinforcing the message that the state is “open for business.”

The Singapore roadshow has set a strong foundation for attracting investments and fostering international partnerships, marking a significant step in Odisha’s journey toward becoming a global economic powerhouse.
