BHUBANESWAR, NOV. 7: Varsha Priyadarshini, a renowned Odia cine artiste and estranged wife of Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Lok Sabha member Anubhav Mohanty, on Friday lodged a fresh complaint against her in-laws alleging that the latter had hatched a conspiracy to evict her from their house.

In the complaint lodged with the Purighat Police station in Cuttack, Varsha alleged that she had recently received an anonymous letter which threatened her to vacate the house immediately or face dire consequences.

“Due to persistent mental harassment I have now fallen sick. There is a threat to my life and even my family members are being harassed,” the Ollywood actress stated in her complaint.

In an earlier police complaint filed on October 27 at the same Purighat police station, Varsha had made similar allegations against her in-laws.

In the complaint, the actress had raised fears that efforts were being made to throw her out of the house in a conspired manner.

Varsha’s mother-in-law Madhusmita Mohanty has lodged a counter complaint against the actress accusing her of creating disturbances in the household without any reasons.

In her complaint filed on November 3, Madhusmita said, “As the house is now some 60-years-old, it needs immediate repairs. The septic tank of the house also needs repairs for which all members are required to vacate or relocate to another place for at least 10 days. However, Varsha is unwilling to shift,” she alleged.

The BJD lawmaker Anubhav Mohanty has filed a divorce petition in New Delhi stating that his marriage with Varsha never consummated due to unwillingness of the actress. Varsha, however, dismissed the charge and said the actor-turned politician Anbhuv was a boozer and had multiple relationships with several other women of Odia film industry.

In fact, Varsha who married Anubhav in 2014 has filed a domestic violence case in the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate Court, Cuttack. She has demanded a monthly maintenance and an indemnity of Rs 15 crore from her husband.

Though the couple is not on good terms for a few months now, Varsha is staying at her in-law’s house.
