Paradip: 53rd Safety observed at PPA with focus on ESG

Paradip. March 14: Paradip Port Authority observed the 53rd Safety Week which concluded on Wednesday. This year, the theme was “Focus on Safety Leadership for Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Excellence.”
Shri P.L. Haranadh, Chairman, PPA lowered the National Safety week Flag, this afternoon at an event held at Gate No. 4, in presence of Dy.Chairman, Shri Nilabhra Dasgupta, Shri Soma Sekhar Bajaramath, Addl. Asst. Director, Inspectorate Dock Safety along with other HODs and PPA officials and various stakeholders.
Chief Guest on the occasion, Shri P.L. Haranadh, Chairman, PPA said that bad practices invite accidents and for this working culture must be improved. We must be aware about safety practices and for this he stressed on imparting proper practical trainings. 23km wide arterial concrete roads has been developed inside harbour area. First time among Major Ports, one mechanised road sweeping machine has been engaged inside harbour on a trial basis. Inside colony area, lighting improvement is being undertaken, so that it will be well lit within next two months. He hoped that, like previous year, this year will also be “least accident” year as far as Port working area is concerned.
Guest of Honour, Shri Nilabhra Dasgupta, Dy. Chairman, PPA said that each employee must be the flag bearer of safety culture. Addressing the gathering, Shri Soma Sekhar Bajaramath, Addl. Asst. Director, Inspectorate Dock Safety said that rather than enforcement, safety must be a social campaign and voluntary culture for the sake of individual and an organisation as a whole.
Thereafter, the winners of various competitions like safety essay, debate and poster competitions organised on the occasion were awarded. Captain A.C. Sahoo, CME I/c gave the welcome address and called upon all the stakeholders to make Safety as a teamwork. Shri P.K. Kar, Safety Officer, PPA offered the vote of thanks.
