Malkangiri,15 August,2023:- The 77th Independence Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and harmony across the Malkangiri district, marked by a peaceful ceremony held at the DNK Parade ground in the district headquarters. The event was held under tight security measures to ensure the safety of all attendees.

Shri.Tusharkanti Behera, Minister for Electronics & IT, Sports & Youth Services, and Home, graced the occasion as the guest of honor. Minister Behera hoisted the national flag and delivered an address that paid homage to the district’s historical significance in the fight for independence. He highlighted the immense contributions of local freedom fighters like Sahid Laxman Nayak and Sahid Tama Dora, who valiantly battled against English colonial rule and laid down their lives for the cause of freedom.

Minister Behera underscored the district’s rich cultural diversity, with various tribal communities such as Koya, Bhumita, Gadaba, Paraja, and the ancient Bonda tribe residing harmoniously within its boundaries. He also praised the district’s natural beauty and cultural heritage, making it a unique and vibrant part of the state.

Reflecting on the post-independence journey of Odisha, Minister Behera commended the rapid development under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik. He highlighted the Chief Minister’s dedication to the welfare of the state’s 4.5 crore residents through initiatives like the Biju Swastya Kalyan Yojana, focused on health, and the 5T program, aimed at transforming schools and improving administrative efficiency.

The Minister also acknowledged the successful implementation of other noteworthy initiatives, such as Mission Shakti, which empowers women, and the Make in Odisha Conclave, promoting industrial growth within the state.

The event was attended by prominent local officials, including Collector Malkangiri Vishal Singh and Superintendent of Police Malkangiri Nitish Wadwani, who praised the peaceful and inclusive atmosphere of the celebrations.

As the nation marks its 77th year of independence, the spirit of unity and progress was evident in Malkangiri, reflecting the resilience and aspirations of its people.
