Paradip, Oct. 4: Demonstrating its continued commitment to cleanliness, environmental sustainability and efficient civic management, the Engineering Department of Paradip Port Authority (PPA) conducted a massive dawn-to-night cleanliness drive across the PPA township today under the ongoing Special Campaign 6.0.
The initiative was spearheaded by Shri Sushil Chandra Nahak, Chief Mechanical Engineer (CME), along with PPA Executive Engineers Shri Jamini Kanta Mohanty, Shri Gangadhar Sethy, Shri Sangram Kumar Samal, Shri Binayak Pradhan and Shri Alok Kumar Mohanty.
Deploying dedicated manpower, heavy machinery and transport vehicles from the early morning hours until late evening, the Engineering Department undertook intensive cleaning and waste-removal operations across residential colonies, public areas, arterial roads and other locations within the PPA township. The operations were carried out under the direct supervision of the senior engineering officials to ensure effective and systematic execution.
The extensive cleanliness drive resulted in the removal and scientific disposal of approximately 95 tractor loads, amounting to nearly 40 tonnes of debris and accumulated waste. The cleared material primarily included unwanted vegetation, street debris, broken household items, dry leaves, tree branches, brick and stone pieces, and other solid waste.
The meticulously planned operation covered major roads, residential areas, public spaces and previously neglected corners, ensuring comprehensive ground-level cleaning while minimising disruption to the daily activities of township residents.
The sustained efforts of the Engineering Department have contributed significantly towards creating a cleaner, safer and more aesthetically pleasing environment for the port community. The initiative also reinforces PPA’s commitment to maintaining cleanliness and environmental responsibility as part of Special Campaign 6.0.
