Bhubaneswar, Feb. 20: Press Council of India member Prasanna Kumar Mohanty has expressed his deep concern over the increasing attacks on working journalists ever since the five-phase three-tier rural polls (panchayat elections) began on February 16, 2022. The scribes have been subjected to murderous attacks while covering political classes, booth capturing, rigging, and snatching of ballot boxes and assault of presiding officers by hooligans.

Mr Mohanty has said the matter will be taken up in the Press Council of India meeting and attention of the International Federation Journalists will be drawn to this barbaric attack.

“Like the first two phases, journalists have been attacked today in Jajpur and Nayagarh. This is barbaric and strongly condemn it,” said Mr Mohanty.
