Malkangiri: 25th March,2025 -Mrs.Shubha Sharma, Principal Secretary of the Women and Child Development Department, conducted a two-day visit to Malkangiri to assess ongoing developmental projects. District Collector Ashish Eswar Patil welcomed the officials and facilitated a comprehensive review meeting.

During her first meeting as District Nodal Secretary, Mrs. Sharma emphasized addressing critical challenges in various sectors. She lauded the progress made and discussed infrastructure upgrades in tribal schools, focusing on girls’ safety. A key directive was the establishment of Adwika Clubs in all district schools to promote awareness through collaborations with NGOs, school staff, and guardians.

To combat child marriage, Mrs. Sharma mandated awareness campaigns using murals in schools, colleges, and hospitals. She also instructed the Labor Officer to monitor worker migration and enhance local employment through MGNREGA and ITDA. Discussions extended to essential services, including health, agriculture, electricity, drinking water, food supply, and social security, ensuring strategic improvements.

Mrs. Sharma inspected several initiatives during her field visits, including the Integrated Farming System at Nilapari Adarsh Village, interactions with PM Janman beneficiaries, and evaluations of Anganwadi Centers and housing projects under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. In Chitrakonda, she reviewed the Upper Primary School, the Chitrakonda Health Center, the Salar Cold Room, and Janbai Primary Health Center. She also examined the Badapada Mini Mega Piped Water Supply and the Kamarguda Maa Laxmi Self Help Group’s educational complex.

The key officials included Zilla Parishad CDO-cum-EO Naresh Chandra Sabar,ADM Vedavara Pradhan, ADM Somnath Pradhan, Sub Collector Duryadhan Bhoi, and district-level officers.

The visit concluded with a review at the Badapada Gram Panchayat Office, engaging stakeholders from Subhadra, Mamata, and ICDS. Mrs. Sharma’s tour reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing essential services and fostering development in Malkangiri’s tribal regions.
