Protest Meeting Against Establishment of Adani and Dalmia Companies in Malkangiri District

Malkangiri, 18th February 2024 – Local residents of Malkangiri district gathered in Old Niliguda village to hold a protest meeting against the establishment of Adani and Dalmia companies in the region. The meeting, organized by the tribal community of the district, aimed to voice opposition to the construction activities of the companies in Kotamateru, Uskalbagh, and Nandiguda areas.
Hundreds of villagers from the vicinity and surrounding areas participated in the protest, expressing concerns over the potential negative impact of the companies’ operations on the local environment and livelihoods. They emphasized that the establishment of these companies could lead to the destruction of natural assets in the area and adversely affect their lives and sources of income.
Among the attendees were numerous workers representing the tribal society of Malkangiri district. Despite previous protests against the companies, the local community remains resolute in its opposition to their establishment.
The protest meeting serves as a strong demonstration of the community’s unity and determination to safeguard their land and resources against perceived threats posed by corporate interests.
