Safety First in Malkangiri: Road Safety Week Awareness Initiative Targets Safer Roads

Malkangiri, 01/01/24: In a concerted effort to enhance road safety awareness, the district administration, in collaboration with the regional transport office, launched a dedicated program during the Road Safety Week as mandated by the Odisha government. The initiative commenced with the Additional District Magistrate, Vedabar Pradhan, flag-off at the District Collector’s office, symbolizing the commencement of a week-long campaign.
A vibrant procession, featuring enthusiastic student participation, traversed from the District Collector’s office to the bus stand, resonating with various slogans promoting road safety. Dr. Ranjan Kumar Swain, District Youth Red Cross Convenor, assumed the role of the keynote speaker, providing a comprehensive discourse on the nuances of road safety. The event was moderated by Traffic Inspector John Pratap Kullu, who ensured the smooth flow of the program.
The dignitaries, shared invaluable insights on accident prevention with the participating students. Malkangiri College NCC, Youth Red Cross, JNV NCC, and Central School NCC played an active role in the program, with over 150 students actively engaging in the awareness drive.
This collaborative effort underscores the community’s commitment to fostering a culture of road safety, emphasizing the importance of responsible behavior on the roads. The program serves as a catalyst for instilling awareness and promoting safe practices among citizens, ultimately contributing to a safer road environment in Malkangiri.
