Shatrughan Sinha blesses newlyweds Sonakshi-Zaheer: ‘Jodi salamat rahe’
MUMBAI, JUN 24 : Veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha sent his wishes to newlyweds Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal. The iconic actor, in an interview, expressed his happiness on seeing his daughter getting married. Sonakshi got married to her longtime boyfriend Zaheer Iqbal in a private ceremony at her Bandra apartment in Mumbai on Sunday, June 23.
Following the civil marriage, the couple hosted a grand reception at Bastian in Dadar. When asked about his happiness, Shatrughan Sinha told Times Now, “Yeh bhi koi poochne ki baat hai? (Is this even a question to ask?) Every father waits for this moment when his daughter is given to her chosen groom. My daughter looks most happy with Zaheer. Unki jodi salamat rahe (May their union remain blessed).”
Shatrughan continued, “44 years ago, Shatrughan Sinha married a very successful, very beautiful, very talented girl of his choice, Poonam Sinha. Now it is Sonakshi’s turn to marry the boy of her choice.”
Sonakshi and Zaheer shared pictures from their wedding on Instagram along with a heartwarming note.
“On this very day, seven years back (23.06.2017) in each other’s eyes, we saw love in its purest form and decided to hold on to it. Today that love has guided us through all the challenges and triumphsâ€æ leading up to this momentâ€æ where with the blessings of both our families and both our gods we are now man and wife. Here’s to love, hope and all things beautiful with each other, from now until forever. Sonakshi-Zaheer 23.06.2024 (sic).”
Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal had been dating for seven years before their wedding. Their wedding celebration saw many Bollywood celebrities, including Salman Khan, Aditi Rao Hydari, Siddharth, Rekha, and others in attendance.
