Jajpur,Sept 4 : Teacher’s day is one of the most celebrated days in schools and colleges. It’s a day when you appreciate teachers for having a tremendous impact on your life. Teacher’s day is a day that is celebrated all over the country on the 5th of September.

It is a day celebrated to show the teachers our appreciation towards them and their hard work. Students should respect their teachers, and the Teacher’s day is the perfect occasion to show a teacher how much they appreciate them. Teachers are the ones that hold knowledge and empathy for their students. The most important person behind the success of a student is his or her Teacher.

Without the help and guidance of teachers, students would not know and understand to go about their lives. We celebrate Teacher’s Day on the fifth of September because it is the birthday of India’s former President, Dr Radhakrishnan. He was a person who loved and adored children.

Dr Radhakrishnan would fill in as a teacher, and the students loved him. Teachers leave a significant impact on each person’s life. They help you, motivate you, and guide you to become the best version of yourself.

Teacher’s day is celebrated every year on 5th September. It is celebrated on the auspicious occasion of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan birthday. The purpose of this celebration is to pay respect to the teachers. It is believed that today’s students will be the future of tomorrow, And a teacher is who makes the future of a student bright. So a teacher is a very respective person in our society.

Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was a teacher himself. He used to love his teacher very much and when he became president of India, some of his student and friend requested him to allow them to celebrate his birthday on 5th September . He replied, “instead of celebrating my birthday it would be a proud privilege if September 5th is observed as teacher’s day”.

From then on words, we celebrate every year 5th September as teacher’s day. A teacher stands as the backbone of the student in their life. The teacher teaches us to walk on the right path by carrying the right things. A teacher is the second parent of the students. We all have grown up and now understand their value in our lives and can’t imagine a beautiful future without their guidance. A good teacher will punish us as well as will love us.

I being a teacher want to share values with students. I want to make things understand very clearly to the students, This way I want to serve this whole country in a better way. Hope to fulfil my dream to be a good teacher in my life.

Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was born in a middle-class family of Tamil Nadu on 5th September 1888. His father name was Sarvepalli Veeraswami and his mother name was Sarvepalli Sita. His primary education was at K.V. High school at Thiruttani. He graduated in Madras Christian College and also completed his master’s degree in philosophy with that college. Later he joined as a professor in Madras Christian College.

Being a good philosopher he was awarded many awards and Bharat Ratna too. He also worked as a professor at the University of Calcutta, was a principal at Harris Manchester College, was the Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University.

Radhakrishnan started his political carrier after his successful academic carrier. He was the first Indian Philosopher and statesman who was the first vice president of India and second president of India from 1962 to 1967.

He was one of the men of the shining star of our country. Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan used to strongly believe that the student who can’t respect their teacher, can never progress in life, Which is damn true.

Traditional Significance from Indian perspective following the Hindu Calendar, Guru Purnima is celebrated in the Hindu month of Asadha falling of June-July, Hindus in India and Nepal celebrate Guru Purnima as a religious festival as an honour and remembrance of their spiritual and academic Gurus. Guru Purnima celebrated from Civilization.

The respect towards the teacher (Guru) is from Ages. The pick of the events is the Ekalavya had cut his thumb to offer to his teacher, which may end his prospects but the love and devotion towards his the teacher. See how much love I tender towards the teacher.

Around 1944, a Wisconsin teacher named Ryan Krug began corresponding with political and education leaders about the need for a national day to honour teachers. Woodbridge wrote to Eleanor Roosevelt, who in 1953 persuaded the 81st Congress to proclaim a National Teacher Day.

To celebrate World Teachers’ Day, the UNESCO and Education International mount a campaign each year to help give the world a better understanding of teachers and the role they play in the development of students and society.

This was the year World Teachers’ Day commemorated the 20th anniversary of the 1997 UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Higher-Education Teaching Personnel, bringing the sometimes-neglected area of teaching personnel at Higher Education institutions into the conversation about the status of teachers.

For 2018, the UNESCO adopted the theme: “The right to education means the right to a qualified teacher.” It commemorates the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948) and serves as a reminder that we cannot realise the right to education without trained teachers.

The main idea is to draw the attention of the society towards this profession. No other profession, either medical or legal, have a day meant to celebrate and honour the best among them. It is a unique honour awarded to the teaching profession in our country.

On that day nearly a hundred teachers selected from primary, upper primary and secondary schools, oriental schools and colleges are invited by the President of India and honoured by giving a certificate of recognition along with some cash prize. The award given by the President is called the National Award for Teachers, which is a great honour to the humble teachers.

Selection for these awards is made on the basis of many considerations-teachers’ personal character and conduct, his professional competence, his sociability, the results he produced, the contribution he made to the profession as a writer, and as a researcher in education., the popularity he enjoys in public, his efforts to eradicate illiteracy, public support he got to build infrastructure for his institution etc.

The part he plays in extracurricular activities is also taken into account. So it is not easy to get a national award. Only ideal and worthy teachers can get it. Besides National awards, State awards and awards by National Foundation for Teachers are also given. In some districts, district level awards are also given to encourage ideal teachers. Giving an award is a good incentive.

Of late the awards given by government have become mechanical. The original idea of involving the society at large, to recognise this noble profession is missing. Many functions are being arranged by teachers to honour their fellow teachers. The parents are not showing the expected interest. It was true that a teacher enjoyed a place of honour after the mother and father and was only next to them, in our ancient society. Many changes have taken place.

A teacher is no longer a selfless Guru. He is a paid employee, just like any other worker in an office or factory. With this social concept, it is difficult to expect society to honour the teachers. But even now there are teachers who are respected and loved for their selfless service, spotless character and unbiased love and affection they show to all their students.

All such teachers may not get awards. The social respect they command is itself an award. As Dr. S. Radhakrishnan had himself said, teaching is its own reward. The satisfaction it gives the teacher is not comparable. A good teacher is always remembered by the student wherever he is.

A teacher stands as the backbone of the student in their life. The teacher teaches us to walk on the right path by carrying the right things. A teacher is the second parent of the student. We all have grown up and now we understand their value in our lives and can’t imagine a beautiful future without their guidance.

A good teacher will punish us as well as will love us. We all are very lucky to have our teachers in this life. We always miss their guidance as we grew up. It’s very important to celebrate this day because through this celebration teacher guides us with the breaking discipline and all other negligible things that we forget to maintain in day to day life.
