Jajpur,Sept. 13 : Police arrested  nine  truck  lifters including a BJD leader on Tuesday in Jajpur  district    on the charges of  their  involvement  in many truck theft cases in the district and its nearby areas  .  Police also seized a dismantled truck from them. One of the arrested accused Aswajit Rout is the vice-president of the youth wing of the district unit of BJD . All the arrested persons  have been identified as Aswajit  Rout      (40)  of Sunuguda village under Badachana police station, Bikram Nayak (36) of Bhadanga village under Dharmasala police station, Mohammed   Abu Naser (29) of Sunguda village, Soumyashree Jena (26) of Khosalpur under Badachana police station Ramesh Parida (38) of Neulpur ,  Biswajit Samal (31) of Mahipur village under Balichandrapur police station,  Gudu Thakur  (40) at Badha village under Pandaratha  police station of Patna district  , Bihar , Ajay Kumar Shaw (36) of BT road under Kashipur police station , Kolkata and Abinit Shaw      (36)  under Sirthi police station , Kolkata . We seized a stolen dismantled truck, a four wheeler and Rs 2,45,000 from them.    Police are hopeful of making further recovery of stolen vehicles from them. All the arrested accused were booked under 379, 294, 120 (B), 420, 468, 411 and 34 of IPC, said Rakesh Tripathy, the  IIC of Dharmasala police station.

Police suspect the involvement of many garage owners, officials of the state transport corporation, regional transport officials and other gang members in many truck theft cases.  In some garages , they easily change  the number plates and colours of the  stolen vehicles   in clear nexus with the garage owners,  added the police officer.
