Unmarried Youth Subjected to Unauthorized Fertility Surgery by Health Department

Malkangiri ,11 Aug,2023 : – In a shocking incident that has left the community astounded, the Health Department reportedly conducted a fertility surgery on an unmarried youth under dubious circumstances. The incident took place in Ambaguda village under Mahupadar GP, situated in the Malkangiri district of Mathil Block.
The victim, identified as Ganga Durua, a 26-year-old tribal mute, was allegedly lured to the local health center by promises of financial incentives. The surgery was performed under the pretense that Ganga Durua was a married man, using forged documents to bypass the necessary procedures and approvals. The orchestrators of this operation, including Asha Didi who led Ganga Durua to the health center, seemingly exploited the vulnerable young man’s circumstances for their own gains.
However, the matter came to light when Champa Durua, mother of Ganga Durua, discovered the truth about the unauthorized surgery. Outraged and concerned, she immediately informed other villagers about the incident, resulting in widespread opposition within the community.
Prompted by the gravity of the situation, social worker Sri.Sharat Buruda visited Ambaguda village to investigate the incident firsthand. After discussions with the villagers and gathering information, Sri.Buruda concluded that the matter required a thorough investigation at the highest level. He assured the villagers that the incident would not be overlooked and that stringent action would be taken against those responsible.
Local authorities, including the Chief District Medical Officer , have taken note of the incident and expressed their commitment to conducting a comprehensive inquiry. The CDMO assured the community that a thorough investigation would be carried out to determine how such a serious breach of medical ethics occurred. They also vowed to hold the culprits accountable and ensure that justice is served.
As the case unfolds, there is a growing demand for transparency and accountability, with the community seeking reassurance that such incidents will not recur in the future. The incident has raised concerns about the protection of vulnerable individuals and the need for stricter regulations to prevent similar unethical practices.
