Paradip, July 27: On his maiden visit to Paradip Port Authority, Shri T.K. Ramachandran, IAS, Secretary, MoPSW was accorded Guard of Honour by the CISF, PPA contingent at the Wet Basin. Later, Shri Ramachandran reviewed the functioning of the PPA in the Board Room of the Administrative Building and interacted with HoDs & Dy.HoDs. Appreciating the Ease of doing business measures undertaken by PPA, he hoped that PPA will conquer new landmarks in coming years. During his visit, under CSR programs of PPA, financial assistance was provided to CIPET for skill development of educated youth of Odisha.

Thereafter, several inauguration/laying of foundation stones of different projects were taken up. First, he laid foundation stone of the proposed Marine Museum at Paradip. Then he inaugurated the proposed Trauma and Burn Care (TBC) Centre in the newly constructed Annex building of Paradip Port Hospital. TBC Centre has been constructed at a cost of Rs.2.90 Crores and shall be a dedicated centre to provide curative and rehabilitative service for trauma and burn victims in and around Paradip.

Thereafter, he laid foundation stone of Water Treatment Plant of PPA which is being constructed at a cost of Rs.10.50 Crores. The plant will receive raw water through Taldanda Canal and this Water Treatment Plant will enhance the water infrastructure of Paradip Port and will supply quality drinking water to the citizens of Port Township. The plant will have the capacity to filter 16 Million liters of water per day. The project is expected to be completed by December, 2024.

Shri T. K. Ramachandran, Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways  inspected and intrinsically reviewed the port operation, planning and expansion at Mechanized Coal Handling Plant, Twin Wagon Tipplers at JSWPTPL and KICT silos. He suggested system improvement measures for increasing productivity.

Smt. B.V. Sathyavathy, W/o Shri T.K. Ramachandran, Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways attended different women oriented programmes as Chief Guest along with President, Paradip Ladies Club Smt. P. Girija Sundari, organised by the social arm of PPA i.e. Paradip Saksharata Samiti at Officers’ Club.
