Bhubaneswar, Jan. 24: A 6- day long KARYASHALA  on NanoMaterials for Energy and Environment NanoMatEn2-2023 started Monday at CSIR-IMMT Bhubaneswar.

Inaugurating the workshop Prof. Dr. S Basu said, Through this program, CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT) is looking to take up the challenge of skilling a select group of individuals as it has several years of research and technical experience in the fabrication of advanced nanomaterials using physico-chemical methods for electrochemical supercapacitors, photocatalytic dye degradation, detection of toxic gases, electronic displays etc. Such kind of Workshop sensitised the youngsters, which they probably missed in their +2 or BTech level. So always keep your eyes & ears should be opened whenever you are doing R&D Projects. I wish you all the best.

The workshop is supported by SERB “Accelerate Vigyan – Karyashala” Scheme as well as CSIR Integrated Skill Development Initiative-IMMT.

Dr R Sakthivel, Chief Scientist, AMT, CSIR-IMMT delivered the introductory speech on  NanoMatEn2. Welcome address was delivered by Ms. Shradha Suman, Research Scholar, AMT, CSIR-IMMT while Dr D. S. Rao, Chief Scientist & Head HRD, CSIR-IMMT delivered the opening address.

The increasing of energy crisis and environmental pollution has drastically threatened the sustainable development of human being. Lots of technologies, for instance, rechargeable batteries and supercapacitors, solar photovoltaic cells, solar photocatalysis, biomass fuels, efficient adsorption technology, and so forth, have been developed in the past decades to exploit clean energies and efficiently deal with pollutants. The key is to obtain advanced nanomaterials with superior structures and functions as active electrodes or efficient catalysts and adsorbents. Also, it is fundamentally important to deeply understand the relationship between structure and properties. New materials with intriguing physical and chemical properties provide opportunities to address these challenges.

This workshop will provide a vital platform for gaining knowledge based on the several materials’ synthesis techniques for the development of energy and environmental devices by highly experienced speakers. We are privileged to have renowned speakers.
